Why you should support GYSTC

• GYSTC is the most effective, least cost provider of supplemental math and science education in Georgia.  We provide services to our member systems at an average cost of $2.42 per student.

• GYSTC effectively leverages our funds, averaging over $1 million annually in school system dues,grants, corporate donations and program fees.

• GYSTC was cited as a leading resource for teachers in the improvement of Science CRCT scores (GACIS Conference, September, 2006)

• GYSTC provides PLU (Professional Learning Unit) training at a much lower cost than any similar provider, at a cost of $18 per PLU versus $63 per PLU from other sources.

• GYSTC has provided services to 129 of Georgia's 159 counties, over 80% of the state.

• GYSTC's mission of providing math and science educational services to traditionally underserved areas of the state. We have provided service to 48 of the 53 poorest cities/counties in the state, according to the Free and Reduced Lunch statistics. 

• Over $18 million from private/local sources, exclusive of legislative appropriations, has flowed to GYSTC as validation of the program's effectiveness and impact.

• With 307 community leaders serving on 13 regional boards, over $10 million in local and corporate funds have been raised specifically to meet local system needs.

• GYSTC member systems have a high degree of end-user satisfaction.

• Local school system membership is voluntary. Over 80% of our systems have 10 years of membership with GYSTC.

• A signifigant number of founding board members are still serving GYSTC at both state and local levels. 

• In a recent survey, 100% of responding superintendents classified our activities as "content rich". 

• GYSTC has completed Science Curriculum Guides for teachers in Grades k-8. The culmination of a 3 year project, these guides have received approval from DoE's Science Education Advisory Committee, and are in conformance with the Georgia Performance Standards.
