• Southwest GYSTC is located on the campus of the Bainbridge College, a two year college which offers associate of arts and applied science degrees, certificates in business and technical fields, noncredit continuing education courses, cooperative degree programs.
• The Southwest GYSTC center opened in 1995.
• The center serves the school systems of Baker, Calhoun, Decatur, Miller, Mitchell, and Seminole counties.
• Among the many educational programs they offer elementary, middle, and high school teachers and students, some favorites include the STARLAB Planetarium and COMET the Finback Whale. The Center provides a variety of professional development programs for K-12 teachers. Several recent courses have had an environmental focus: The Living Flint: From Beginning to End, Georgia Adopt-A-Stream, and Waste-in-Place. Perennial programs that provide exciting Earth, Life and Physical Science hands-on experiences, Summer Science camps and The American Girl historical fiction series.
• Southwest GYSTC Partners in Education include: First Port City Bank, International Paper, Joseph W. Jones Ecological Research Center, and Bainbridge-Decatur County United Way.
